Data Analyzer
The Modem Line Tap, MLT2400-A is an analog data analyzer that translates telephone data communications into standard ASCII characters for display on a PC screen. It provides the POS industry and others with a non-intrusive means of monitoring the telephone line communications between two modems.

Passive Connection
The MLT2400-A (Modem Line Tap) is a passive telephone line monitoring device. It is used to decode analog signals sent by interconnecting modems into equivalent ASCII data. The MLT data output can be viewed using a PC with a serial port or a data scope analyzer.
|
Hardware Independent
Since the MLT is externally connected to the terminal itself, programmers can gain easy access to the communications data without becoming intimately familiar with the hardware used. See the Connection Diagram.
|
Transaction Monitor
A typical use of the MLT is to monitor transactions between a POS terminal and its interconnected Host processor. The telephone cable normally connected to the POS terminal is moved to the MLT input RJ-11. Another cable, with RJ-11 connectors at each end, is used to connect the MLT loop through input to the POS terminal. Then the serial output from the MLT is routed to the PC
